Dr. Bettina Stuchtey is Head of Division at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), and has been responsible for General Issues of External Economic Policy, World Economic Summits, OECD since July 2014. Currently, she is also leading the Coordination of the German 2017 G20 at BMWi in Berlin.

Dr. Stuchtey joined BMWi as civil servant in 2002, and started her career as counsellor for International Economic and Currency Policy in the Economic Policy Division. She seconded to the Permanent Mission in Washington D.C, before counselling on topics covering North America, G8/G20, OECD. Prior to her current responsibilities, she was also heading BMWi’s Policy Analysis and Planning division, as well as the division General Issues and Economic Special Tasks.

Dr. Stuchtey was a research fellow at the Council of Environmental Advisors, Wiesbaden, from 1995 to 2000, and was awarded a doctorate degree (Dr. rer. oec.) at TU Berlin in 2002.
